“Every day’s a fashion show for these people.”- Seth Cohen, The O.C.
Television was the one of the 1st mediums to influence fashion trends on a massive scale. If you want to rock a trend of the past (remember fashion trends ALWAYS come back) here are some great shows to binge watch for some fashion inspo from the 90’s to the 2010’s:
- Sex and the City (1998)

Need I say more? Wearing heels to a baseball game???? This is something I myself have done (purely for the pic and the hope to go somewhere AFTER the game). You want to see fashion at it’s early 2000’s finest look no further. How many people in the early 2000’s were classifying themselves as either a Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, or Charlotte?
2. Madmen (2007)

Cat-eye sunglasses, high-rise pants, flowing dresses, and cinched waistlines were a staple for the females of this show. How many of these trends do you see today??? Quite a few- I even want Betty’s Draper’s dress she has on here (down the Google Rabbit hole I go…)
3. Gossip Girl (2007)

As an older millennial this show still influences my style choices of today. As I binge-watched this show I order a pair of wide leg pink pants (2020 version updated ) and red strap sandals just by watching the episode of pic above. While this is a great show to watch to check out of reality have your credit card handy because I guarantee you will see an item you will want to rock! I still have not thrown out all the headbands I bought back in 2007.
4. My So-Called Life (1994)

“What’s amazing is when you can feel your life going somewhere. Like, your life just figured out how to get good.” —Angela Chase
While this show was short-lived it has become a go-to for all things grunge fashion. Enter in combat boots, ripped jeans, and flannels and you are in mid 90’s teen angst heaven. Clothes were way more comfortable back then- happy to see that ripped jeans and combat boots are making a comeback!
5. Pretty Little Liars (2010)

To be on trend in 2010- you were definitely stealing some fashion inspo from Pretty Little Liars. While it’s nearly impossible to keep track of who’s dead and who’s alive on this show, but we do know that we wanted Aria’s ripped jeans.
6. The O.C. (2003)

Lacoste shirts, pointy toed shoes, over-sized Chanel bags, and sundresses were the makings of a rich girl So-Cal style. And who didn’t wish they had Marisa Cooper’s closet?
7. Friends (1994)

Chokers, chic not grunge plaid, knee high boots, and baby tee’s- welcome to a 90’s fashion extravaganza! And who can forget the “Rachel” haircut that had scissors heard around the world?
8. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)

Welcome to the HellMouth! Where knee high boots, colored framed sunglasses, short skirts, and spaghetti straps reigned supreme. With crossbows and vampire stakes as fashion staples it was the TV land’s version of the modern day pink mace spray.
9. Beverly Hills 90120

Floppy hats, sunflowers as accessories, bras as tops, colorful blazers, and crop tops- welcome to S-Cal style circa 1990! Get your best white tee on (yes these where fashion staples even then) and step right into this high fashion time machine!
10. Scream Queens (2015)

Any show that wears this much pink, each main character is named Chanel, and they make ear muffs look like a fashion statement gets a binge watch approval in my book.
Happy watching!
