With the 2020 USA Presidential election still in flux, and the numbers coming in so close, it feels like watching a grudge match in the Superbowl. After about 24 hours of this, in the latest news update (speech from Joe Biden), the only thing my mind could process at this point is “Wow, I love Kamala Harris’s red leather suit.” I am also the person who saw a shirt on Jenna Bush Hager on the Today Show and immediately went down the google rabbit hole to buy it for myself. Whether you side with the red, the blue, or neither we can still acknowledge a great coat when we see one.

Here are my top fashionistas of America’s First Family throughout history:
- Michelle Obama: Wife of Barack Obama (44th President of the United States 2009-2017):

Love an all white ensemble with belt waist-cinching action. Flattering on most and an easy look to replicate for all. And the fringe- takes the look from basic to bomb š

An asymmetrical top always adds a fashion flair to the typical white and black professional attire.

I love a mixed pattern look- it’s Carrie Bradshaw meets the White House chic.
2. Jenna Bush Hager: Daughter of George W. Bush (43rd President of the United States 2001-2009):

I do this a lot in my own looks- have the same color scheme, same pattern, but flip the colors on the bottom and top.

Lately I have been a huge fan of the bright colored suit- I have been ditching my black, brown and gray suits and opting for bolder colors and patterns.

I love a nude shoe matched with a bold color- and the statement sleeve takes this look from everyday to extraordinary.
3. Melania Trump: Wife of Donald J. Trump (45th President of the United States 2017-Present):

This is giving me major Jackie O’ vibes- enough said.

A statement coat is a worthy investment- especially now in NYC (where I am from) in which indoor dining is limited. No one is going to see your amazing outfit if you are dining outdoors in the fall- your coat is your outfit so make sure it’s a good one.

If you take a look at Melania’s fashion history you will see she is the Queen of the great coats. That plus slouchy boots is a win in my book. Full disclosure I have a jacket and boots exactly like this pic but the much cheaper version (her’s are Burberry) so I am biased. Gotta love a look if I own the same type of look š
3. Nancy Reagan: Wife of Ronald Reagan (40th President of the United States 1981-1989):

I am obsessed with this blazer! I would wear this today. A patterned- colored blazer spices up any conservative ensemble. I have always been a fan of the pale yellow color in an outfit.

I actually own a dress very similar to this in black. I never thought I’d say this but I like Nancy’s spin on this style better! Love the color- elevates the style of the dress.

Same as above as I own a tweed skirt like this but in a lighter pink (with the fringe and everything- the exact same style). Who knew I would be dressing like Nancy Reagan in 2020?? (I know I never thought I would).
4. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis: Wife of John F Kennedy (35th President of the United States 1961-1963):

We cannot discuss fashion of America’s First Family without talking about Jackie O! Above she is wearing the sunglasses that have become a fashion staple today (I myself own a pair of Jackie O sunglasses).

True fashion icons stand the test of time. This is an outfit I would see walking down the street in 2020 and not look the slightest bit dated. She was truly ahead of her time.

Another dress I would totally rock today! She brought the fashion world to the White House. If it wasn’t for Jackie O’s innovation and risk-taking fashion moves the stylish ladies that came after her would not be the fashionistas they are today.
Fashion does not belong to any political party- it is for everyone to appreciate and enjoy. I myself wrote this purely as an escape from the Superbowl of the 2020 election that seems never-ending for us all.
Remember whether you agree or disagree with anyone you can still think, “Love her dress, Hate her.”
